Lawn Cottage is a delightful 18th century stone cottage with charming antique-filled rooms and a pretty garden and terrace, which guests are very welcome to use. It has a spacious family kitchen, a dining room and drawing room. There are three rooms for bed and breakfast guests, arguably the loveliest Dorset B&B accommodation in Dorset. Pets are welcome by arrangement. All the rooms have wifi, tea and coffee making facilities and homemade biscuits.

Breakfast can be taken in the cosy kitchen with its Aga or in the more formal dining room. It is an ideal base for visiting Dorset, Somerset or Wiltshire being on the border of all three, or as a quiet place to relax and unwind 'far from the madding crowd'. It’s also close to Duncliffe Wood, 250 acres of Woodland Trust full of lovely walks and, in the early Spring, bursting with primroses and violets and later filled with bluebells and foxgloves.
Lawn Cottage is ideally located as an idyllic bed and breakfast near the premier independent schools in Dorset; the B&B near Clayesmore School, Hanford School, Port Regis School, St Mary’s School.

Olympic Torch

The torch comes to Shaftesbury (time to be confirmed). A unique oppurtunity to feel part of the Olympic spirit and see the runners with the torch in this delightful country town of North Dorset.
Sailing Olympics in Weymouth
Sunday 29th July - Saturday 11th August
A delightful 50 minute journey will take you to the coast at Weymouth where those without tickets will be able to view the spectacle of the Olympic yachting races in Weymouth bay.
Gillingham and Shaftesbury Agricultural Show
This popular local show has all the traditional stands and the wonderful cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, horticultural marquees, art competitions, cake competitions and classic ring events to suit all ages. A separate ring for the show jumping and horse judging competition and dog events add to the enjoyment.
Great Dorset Steam Fair Tarrant Hinton near Blandford

This annual classic is Dorset’s biggest event. See the steam engines ‘light up’ at night, visit by day to see them working, browse amongst the shops and the stalls selling everything a steam engine fan could wish for, eat to your heart’s content with food of all varieties and travel back in time.
